Vishal G. Patel, MD, FACC
Dr. Patel is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, and endovascular medicine. He is also certified in vascular interpretation. Dr. Patel is a recipient of the JoAnn McWhorter Award for Excellence in Clinical Cardiology, and also received a St. Mary’s Medical Center Outstanding Teaching Award. Dr. Patel received his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, CA. Dr. Patel completed fellowship training in cardiovascular disease and subsequently interventional cardiology at the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. When Dr. Patel is not working he enjoys spending time on outdoor adventures with his wife, children, and puppy. He loves to garden, cook, and explore the Sonoma County food and wine scene.
Kimberly Brayton, MD, JD, MS
Dr. Brayton is board certified in both internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. Dr. Brayton received her medical degree and completed her Internal Medicine residency at the University of California, San Francisco. She completed her clinical cardiology fellowship at UT Southwestern in Dallas, Texas, before transferring to Stanford University to complete her cardiology fellowship as well as receiving post-doctoral training including a master’s degree in health services research. She continued on to complete a second post-doctoral fellowship at Stanford’s Clinical Excellence Research Center. In her spare time, Dr. Brayton enjoys spending time with her children (which mostly entails chasing them around trying to avert disasters), cooking with her husband, and exploring the beauty of Sonoma County parks with her family and the family dog, Maya.
Juli A. Conley CCMA-AC, Cardiovascular Technician
Julie supervises and directs the CV-Tech station and back office, and assists the Clinical Support Services Manager with administrative duties. She is a Vein Clinic Technician, preparing for and assisting Dr. Patel with all vein clinic procedures including venous ablation, sclerotherapy and microphlebectomy. Julie earned a specialized Associate Degree as a Certified Medical Assistant - Clinical and Administrative. She is nationally certified and California State licensed as a Phlebotomist. She is certified in ACLS, BLS, and Basic Arrhythmia.
Kathleen Karp CCMA-C, Clinical Support Services Manager
Kathleen supervises and supports the Vein Clinic as well as the Cardiology team as a whole. She has worked as a cardiovascular technician since 2011. Prior to NCMA, Kathleen attended Empire College to become a Clinical Medical Assistant and is certified by the State of California as a Certified Medical Assistant – Clinical. She is additionally certified in ACLS, Basic Arrhythmia and CPR.
Nancy F. Stefan, RDCS, RVT, Supervisor of the Cardiovascular Imaging
Nancy oversees the imaging department, performs echocardiograms, stress echos, and vascular studies. Nancy has 36 years’ experience as a sonographer and 30 years’ experience supervising ultrasound labs. She worked in the ultrasound lab in Radiology at Community Hospital from 1978 to 1991. She then joined Northern California Medical Associates in 1991. Her education includes an AS degree from Santa Rosa Junior College 1975-1978; graduating from SRJC in 1978 with a Radiologic Technologist degree; registered as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in Adult Cardiac, OB-GYN, and Abdomen in 1981 and Vascular Ultrasound in 1993.
Lee Freilich RVT, RDMS, Registered Vascular Technologist
Lee has over 11 years’ experience performing vascular ultrasound exams including venous insufficiency, renal, arterial and venous upper and lower extremities, dialysis access, testing for Raynaud’s, testing for TOS, vein mapping, carotids, etc. Lee has been a Registered Vascular Technologist since 2007 and Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer since 2006.
Christy Ramsey, Vascular Technologist
Christy performs vascular imaging studies, primarily venous duplex exams for venous insufficiency. She was previously employed at a local vein center from 2013 to 2016. Christy’s skills include scanning venous duplex studies, arterial ankle brachial index studies, assisting with ultrasound guided sclerotherapy, endovenous laser ablation, phlebectomies, non-medical topical laser, non-medical sclerotherapy and fitting of medical compression stockings. Christy earned her AA degree at Santa Rosa Junior College. She is currently working toward her registry in Vascular Technology.
